100 Day Dress Challenge

You’ve probably seen people on the ‘gram doing the 100 day dress challenge from Wool&. The concept is that their clothes are well-made, comfortable, and versatile enough to get way more wears per garment than most people give their clothes, so if you wear one of their dresses for 100 days (and send them photographic proof), they’ll send you a gift card for another dress.

I had been thinking about it for over a year (as Bethany said, I do like a challenge), so I finally went for it. I bought The Green Dress as a birthday present for myself. Claire pointed out that green is “nature’s neutral,” so if I had any qualms about a color combination, I should think about whether I’d seen a flower that color. “If Mother Nature can do it, why not you?” I took this advice to heart and wore some colors I wouldn’t have thought to put with that green.

Not going to bore you with the whole hundo, but here are a few I think came out nice.

Ultimately, I’m glad I did it. It was kind of silly, and also fun. People post these challenges on social media, and I connected with a few random people who started around the same time I did. I really enjoyed going on this journey with total strangers, especially Emma, who is around my age, has two little kids, and is renovating an old farmhouse in France. I feel like we’d be friends if we knew each other IRL.

I got really into my collection of necklaces and reimagined some sweaters I hadn’t thought about in a while. I bought some bonus leggings about halfway through, and my mom found me this gorgeous gold shawl to wear with it.

I did not enjoy the daily selfie. I have a weird chin or something. Also, I don’t own a full=length mirror, which made it harder.

I tend to wear my clothes over and over; I’m not one of those people who tends to buy much clothing, and I usually get most of my clothes from the thrift store. But I did notice how well the dress held up to an abusive amount of wearing. It was more expensive than similar cotton dresses I have, but those are poorly made and got pill-y fast. It’s worth the money for something ethically produced and long-lasting.

Now, my quandary is that I need to pick my next dress (not for the challenge, but to use my gift card). I’m thinking either the Ellie in red or the Brooklyn in plum. Thoughts?
