Lisbon has a lot of incredible public art, but this massive “trash animal” by Bordalo II, captivated us the most (pictures of it being placed are here).

It’s entirely made of plastic waste, some of it covered in stickers and graffiti (were those there before or after the statue’s construction? unclear).
Part of its appeal was just the general massiveness of the thing. It was as tall as our house.
Another fascination was that if we just looked at it and kind of relaxed our eyes, we started to recognize the pieces—a trashcan lid, a hard hat, a garden spade.
And then, of course, we all really like cats.
